I was under the weather this past weekend and if anyone knows me, they know how much a simple head cold can knock me down. I readily admit that I can be quite the baby when I can’t breathe through my nose and my eyes burn in that ‘you have a cold way.’ Luckily, I have people in my life who put up with me and my dramatics. They even accept my sick as a dog face and my walrus-like tissue up the nose strategy for dealing with the stuffy nose. (I’ll spare you the image…although my family did manage to snap many)
Being puny this past weekend has really made me feel thankful for the people in my life that are there to take care of me. First there’s this guy…
who shows up with blue Gatorade and two types of chicken noodle soup. When he asked me if I wanted homestyle or regular, I am pretty sure I replied with “whatever has the most noodles.” (and excuse the awkward picture…I am still getting used to this document your life thing and tried to get this one candidly) You win some, you lose some.
I then got to sleep in my own bed and be surrounded by my family for the rest of the weekend where even though they made fun of me relentlessly for my coping with a cold methods, they still made me feel loads better by just being my family and letting me be sick at home.
**And then of course there is feel good TV like Gilmore Girls and The Office that can cure just about anything**
Even though I spent the weekend feeling puny, it was nice to be cared for by the people who love me, and to be able to experience thankfulness towards them that might usually get pushed aside when everything is going fine.
So somehow I have inadvertently turned having a cold into something positive and I guess there’s nothing wrong with that. What are you guys thankful for these days? Oh! And how did you spend your weekend? (Not sick I hope)
